These courses fulfill the Appraisal Foundation's requirements for the 7 hour and 4 hour Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws And Regulations courses. The 7 hour version meets the Qualifying Education (QE) requirements, and the 4 hour version meets the Continuing Education (CE) requirements. Attending the 7 hour version is a pre-requisite to receive credit for the 4 hour version.
The 7 hour course is required to be taken by all licensed appraisers, and unlicensed appraisers will have to take the final exam for the course to meet their Qualifying Education requirements. Attendance is required to obtain CE credit, and passing the exam is required to obtain QE credit. Consequently, licensed appraisers only looking to obtain continuing education credit are not required to take the exam.
The 4 hour version can only be counted towards CE credit and is intended to be an update or "refresher" course that must be once taken every two years after having attended the 7 hour version. Taking the 4-hour CE course will not fulfill the initial 7 hour requirement required for all appraisers.
